Earl Wayne Seefeldt, 81, Chanute, joined the Lord on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at the Chanute Health Care Center after an extended illness.

Earl was born in Humboldt on Feb. 21, 1929, the son of Edward and Anna Krone Seefeldt. He grew up on the family farm, located near Vegetarian Colony, outside of Humboldt. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1946.

Earl was united in marriage to Wanda Adams on June 3, 1951. They made their home in Humboldt until 1956, when they moved to Chanute. She preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1982. He later married Pansy Dent on August 23, 2001. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2006.

Earl was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad for more than 43 years.

He enjoyed his family, his job and working on the family farm. He also enjoyed old tractors.

Earl was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute, the Railroad Fireman’s Union, NARVE, and the Humboldt Historical Society.

He is survived by a brother, Everett Seefeldt, Chanute; three nieces, Evelyn Morales, Ella Brazil and Barbara Seefeldt, all of Chanute; and two nephews, Alvin Seefeldt, Livermore, Calif., and Ronald Seefeldt, Greenwood, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda and his wife Pansy, two brothers, Marvin and Harold Seefeldt, a niece, Martha Hovey, and two nephews, Edward and Larry Seefeldt.

Funeral will at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and may be left with the funeral home.
