Cecil P. Volmer, 87, St. Paul, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Girard Medical Center.

He was born April 26, 1923, in rural St. Paul, to George and Rose Knott Volmer. As a young boy, he attended Odell country school. Following school, he began his lifelong love of farming and raising livestock.

He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.

He and Mary Rose Beard Diskin were married Sept. 5, 1975, at St. Francis Catholic Church. She preceded him in death Nov. 24, 2010.

Survivors include a stepson, Terry Diskin, St. Paul; two stepdaughters, Paula Crager, St. Paul, Phyllis Hilburn, Pullman, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Belle Ebert, Flush, Rosemary O’Toole, Girard.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wed., Dec. 29, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at the church, where the family will receive friends immediately following.
