Clyde Burch, 93, a longtime local cattleman and rancher in Elk and Wilson County, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born July 15, 1917 in Sedan, the son of James Durston and Monzella Vanderhoof Burch.

On July 24, 1937 in Pawhuska, Okla., he married Nola Phyllis Banning. She preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2004. They moved to Fredonia in 1979 where Clyde remained active in the cattle business.

Clyde was a member of the Buxton Christian Church and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Clydene Owen, Osawatomie; a son, Sonny Burch, Ottawa; 17 grandchildren; his companion, Norma Troutman, Fredonia; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Buxton Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Contributions in Clyde’s name may be made to the Buxton Christian Church and left with Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
