Marion M. Clifford, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 in Broomfield, Co. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20 at Elmwood Cemetery, Chanute.

Marion was born Jan. 18, 1925 to Ed and Fleta Taylor Howard in Chanute. She married Benjamin E. Clifford who preceded her in death. Marion worked for Beech Aircraft, Ball Brothers and Transformer Electronics.

She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge #51, Civil Air Patrol, American Red Cross and past director of Native American Connections, a nonprofit that helped supply clothes, food and medical supplies to the reservations in South Dakota. Marion was adopted by the Sioux Nations and given the name “Big Hearted Woman.”

Survivors include a son, Richard E. Clifford, Boulder; daughters, Judi Manther-Baca, Superior, and Joyce Matthews, St. Johns, Ariz., one brother; four sisters; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
