Nicholas “Nick” Charles Grzybowski, 61, Humboldt, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Nick was born in Hillsboro on Jan. 22, 1949, the son of Stanley and Madelyn Neustrom Grzybowski. He graduated from Herrington High School in 1967.

Nick served his country in the U.S. Army 34th Engineering Battalion in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Laura Manwiller on Nov. 25, 1978 in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.

Nick was a foreman for Hamm Quarries.

He was a member of the Greenwood Lodge #163 in Fall River. He loved welding, carpentry and his dogs.

Nick is survived by his wife, Laura, of the home; three sons, Steven Olson and his wife, Tomiko, Nixa, Mo., Richard Grzybowski and his wife, Valerie, Humboldt, and Nicholas Grzybowski, Jr., and his wife, Korenne, Humboldt; grandchildren, June and Ryan, Nixa, Mo., Logan, Kailey, Jacob, Shelby and Truman, all of Humboldt; a brother, James May, Washington state; and a sister, Martha Hykel, of Des Moines, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Michelle May.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
