Dorothy M. “Dottie” Dickerson, 87, of Baxter Springs, died at l:03 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Cherryvale Care Center, where she had been cared for the past several months.

She was born on April 20, 1923, in Giles County, Tenn., to M.F. and Oshee M. (Doggett) Grammar.She moved to Parsons with her family when she was a small child. She attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School. Later she completed a cosmetology course and became a licensed beauty operator.

On July 4, 1944, she married Lowell M. Dickerson in Baxter Springs. They lived in Baxter Springs after their marriage. Mr. Dickerson preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2010.

Mrs. Dickerson operated a beauty shop in her home in Baxter Springs for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Baxter Springs and of the Heartland Antique Car Club of Joplin.

Survivors include a son, Larry Dickerson, Chanute; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Crandon, Nettie Harrison and Mary Selanders. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio in Parsons. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
