Alice F. Wright, 70, of rural Erie, died at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

She was born on May 8, 1940, at Maitland, Mo. to Lonnie and Belle (Wardlow) Lance. She grew at Maitland and attended schools there. She moved to Savannah, Mo., where she worked at the hospital in St. Joseph as a certified nurses aide. In 1980, she moved to the Erie area, where she worked as a custodian at the Erie courthouse. She retired in 2003. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

She and Robert H. Wright Sr. were married and they later divorced. He preceded her in death.

Her survivors include three sons, Jimmy Wright, and his wife Tammy of St. Paul, Robert Wright Jr. and Rodney Wright both of Erie; one daughter, LaWanda Brown of rural Erie; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph and Marvin Lance, both of Fillmore, Mo.; two sisters, Imogene Caywood of Fillmore, Mo and Katy Hughes of Savannah, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Wright; her parents; and two brothers, Howard and Norman Lance.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Federated Church at Erie. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials are suggested to the Erie Federated Church. Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Erie is in charge of arrangements.
