Clarence W. “Bud” Marnell, 70, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and a former Erie resident, died Tuesday morning at the Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1940, at Walnut to Clarence “Bill” and Irma (Herod) Marnell. He moved to Erie with his family where he grew up and attended schools. He graduated from Erie High School in 1958. He attended Parsons Junior College.

He and Marlene Page were united in marriage May 29, 1959, at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church at Erie. She survives of the home.

He went to barber school and returned to Erie where he worked for several years as a barber. He then went to work in the cable TV industry and lived in several places throughout the country. He eventually retired in the Tampa, Florida area. He was into the baptized Catholic Faith.

In addition to his wife, his survivors include two sons, Darrel Marnell, Covington, La., and Bruce Marnell, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one daughter, Pamela Stallard, Wichita; three grandchildren, Sarah Stallard and Evan Stallard, Wichita, and Hannah Marnell, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Jerry Marnell, Jackson, Tenn., Dick Marnell, Bartlesville, Okla., and Ron Marnell, Wichita.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie.

The family will receive friends following the Rosary. Memorials are suggested to the Gulfside Regional Hospice and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 303 N. Grant St., P.O. Box 182, Erie, KS 66733.
