Ernest Allen Criswell, 91, Topeka, formerly of Humboldt, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at the Aldersgate Village in Topeka.
Ernest was born in Hutchinson, on March 10, 1917, the son of James and Dora Graybill Criswell.
He was united in marriage to Thelma Irene Keyser on March 19, 1938. She preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2007.
He was a boiler tender for Monarch Cement Company in Humboldt.
Ernest is survived by a daughter, Dora Anne Quathamer, Wamego; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Criswell, Solomon, eight grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Thelma, sons, Walter James Criswell and Ernest Allen Criswell Jr.; a daughter, Dr. Mildred Criswell; a brother LeRoy Criswell; a great-grandson Jaustin Riley; and several step-sisters.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday1, Dec. 31 at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel, Humboldt. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in his name may be made to Aldersgate Village in Topeka and may be left with the funeral home.
