John M. Wise, 57, Chanute, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

John was born in Chanute on August 19, 1953, the son of Marion and JoAnn Cox Wise. He graduated from high school in 1971 from Chanute.

He worked for Consolidated Oil for many years then he went to work for Young’s Welding in Chanute.

He is survived by his partner and longtime companion Jackey Murphey, of the home.

He is also survived by his parents, Marion and JoAnn, Chanute; three sons; Sam Murphey, Alamogordo, N.M., Zach Murphey, Iola, and Eric Wise, Hutchinson; two daughters, Denys Morris, Lowville, N.Y., and Katy Chard, Chanute; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Cliff Wise and his wife, Rhonda, Garnett; two sisters, Dee Ann Craig and her husband, Kenneth, Augusta, and Linda Dieker and her husband, John, Olpe

A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26. at the First Christian Church in Chanute.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.

Memorials in his name may be made to Cherry Street Youth Center.
