IOLA — The Chanute Post 170 American Legion baseball team went two-for-two on Saturday at the Iola Post 15 Tournament at Allen County Community College.
Chanute defeated Paola 14-11 and then topped Linn County 8-2.
Sunday’s games were rained out.
With the wins, Chanute Post 170 improves to 5-1 on the season.

Tribune staff Neosho County Community College has not one, but two all-american baseball players. Adam Giacalone and Caleb Compton were both listed on the NJCAA’s All-American Baseball Team. HUMBOLDT — It was a busy weekend at the Humboldt Speedway.
The Dwayne Whitworth Memorial Special was held on Sunday. Races were also held on Friday.

CHS TRACK: Season ends at state

WICHITA — The Chanute High School track team finished the 2011 season on Saturday at the Class 4A State Track Meet at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
No member of the team was able to reach the medal stand.
The CHS girls 4x400 relay team of Ashlyn Cole, Morgan Olson, Tara Haight and Mariah Brooks just missed a medal. The Blue Comets finished eighth with a time of 4:18.

Humboldt's McNutt medals at state track meet
Tribune staff WICHITA — Humboldt’s Tanner McNutt finished second overall in the Class 2A boys 400-meter dash at the State Track Meet in Wichita on Saturday. McNutt advanced to the finals of the 400 on Friday by finishing third overall (51.46). In Saturday’s finals, McNutt crossed the line second with a time of 51.17.
