One bright spot in the NCCC men’s basketball team’s Saturday night loss to Independence was Australian freshman Jamie Batish. He had a standout offensive performance with 26 points, including six three-pointers.

Chanute’s JV girls basketball team beat their Iola rivals 36-19 on Tuesday night.
According to Coach Shannon Bogle, the first half was a little rough, but the Comets continued to play hard and aggressive. Chanute outscored Iola 9-0 in the game’s last quarter.

The undefeated Humboldt boys basketball team beat Marmaton Valley on Tuesday night in a 63-31 rout. Humboldt outscored its opponents 28-11 in the first half and didn’t slow down the scoring after that.

The Humboldt girls basketball team scored a victory over Marmaton Valley on Tuesday night. The Lady Cubs won the match-up 50-43, bringing their record this season to 2-4.

On the road Tuesday night, St. Paul closed out the 2012 portion of the schedule by splitting a pair of varsity games with Southeast-Cherokee.
