Blue Comets finish sixth at Eudora tourney

EUDORA—Led by Tim Wrestler’s individual title, the Chanute High School wrestling team took sixth place at the Eudora Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Chanute had six medalists at the tournament.
A junior, Wrestler took first place in the 119-pound bracket.
Senior Jacob LaRue was second at heavyweight and sophomore Sam Son finished third at 152 pounds.

Chanute High School seniors Matt Bollig and T.J. Walls have been awarded the highest honor a high school football player can receive.
Both were named First Team All-State by the Kansas Football Coaches Association. Bollig was named first team all-state at quarterback, while Walls was named first team all-state at wide receiver.

The Chanute High School basketball teams will host Columbus tonight in the home-opener of the 2009-10 season. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
Chanute’s girls are coming off a 54-46 loss to the Independence Bulldogs.
Columbus lost its season-opener as well, falling to Girard 68-43. Girard led 25-4 in the first quarter.
