The Chanute Wrestling Club visited Coffeyville on Saturday, Dec. 17, and several of their young wrestlers secured top spots.

Chanute boys expect improvement after second big loss in a row
The Chanute Blue Comets’ 70-47 loss to the Pittsburg Purple Dragons on Friday night was the team’s second loss in a row to a SEK Conference rival by a wide margin. However, Coach Max Ruark was happier with his team’s performance against Pittsburg than he was with the way they played Tuesday night in Independence.

Poor shooting dooms Comet girls in 35-24 loss
“We couldn’t throw it into an ocean.”
This was Coach Dustin Fox’s main complaint about his Chanute girls basketball team’s 35-24 loss to the Pittsburg Purple Dragons, in which the Comets only made 8 out of 47 from the field (17 percent) and 0 for 13 from the three-point range.

The Chanute Christian Academy Warriors boys basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season by defeating Fort Scott CLC Mustangs 47-34 at home on Tuesday night.
