Chanute tennis notches six wins at Coffeyville tourney
Both of the singles players and the number two doubles team on Chanute’s boys tennis team went 2-2 at a SEK meet in Coffeyville on Tuesday afternoon. The six victories put the Comets in fourth place at the event. Pittsburg won the meet with 15 victories and only one loss.

Chanute softball swept by Paola
Chanute’s softball team had only lost one game headed into its Tuesday afternoon doubleheader against Paola. However, the Comets struggled mightily in these games against the Panthers, falling 15-3 in the first game and 17-0 in the second.

NCCC prepares to host Harold Turner All-Star game

When he first arrived at NCCC six years ago as the head men’s basketball coach, Jeremy Coombs wanted to bring an annual high school basketball all-star game event to this part of southeast Kansas. Offensive struggles cost Humboldt softball in opener
Starting pitcher Courtney Richey had 13 strikeouts with no walks for Humboldt’s softball team on Tuesday night, but struggles at the plate cost the Lady Cubs in their season-opening doubleheader in Burlington. Humboldt fell in the games 2-1 and 7-3.

Five wrestlers from the SEK Jr. Comets earned plaques at the state tournament in Topeka last weekend.

Panthers split doubleheader; ‘Ballgame’ festivities postponed to Sunday
An early-morning thunderstorm on Saturday called the postponement of the scheduled multi-generational Take Me Out To The Ballgame event at NCCC.
