Motorcycle crash injures two area men
ST. PAUL — An injury motorcycle accident occurred at 1:50 p.m. Saturday at 20525 150th Rd. (approximately five miles north of St. Paul).
A 2001 Harley Davidson driven by Robert H. Wright, Jr., 49, Eureka, was westbound on 150th, left the north side of the road and struck a fence.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Wright was transported to Freeman Hospital, Joplin.

Area auctioneer claims world champion title

YATES CENTER — Southeast Kansas has a world champion in its midst. Charly Cummings, Yates Center, earned the title of World Auctioneer Champion at the Livestock Marketing Association’s (LMA) competition in Williamston, S.C. last weekend.
“It’s crazy,” he said. “It’s going to be a lifestyle change.”

Five-year-old Ty Stokes was dismissed on Wednesday from Children’s Mercy Hospital after a kidney transplant 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Lita Mae Soderquist, 82, Parsons, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, of natural causes, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Death followed a month long illness.

A City Under Siege is trying to make a better name for itself as a Christian-based band at the Cornerstone Festival 2011, today through Sunday at Bushnell, Ill.

At 9:20 p.m. Monday, there was an injury accident on Plummer and Ash Grove Road, a half mile from Chanute on Plummer.
