Robert Eugene “Bob” Ward, 72, of Fredonia, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital. Bob was born on June 20, 1940 in Thayer to Elba Wesley and Gladys Mae Fletcher Ward.
Bob’s early years were spent attending school in Thayer. He later worked for Neosho County, and Wilson County Road and Bridge Department. In 1971 he married his first wife Mildred Irene Parker, who passed away in August of 1999.

Charla Mae “Micky” Sneed, 83, of Thayer, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Charla was born in Kellyville, Okla., on April 15, 1930, the daughter of Harry and Dee N. Evans.
She was united in marriage to Roy T. Sneed in Pawnee, Okla. He preceded her in death.
She was the co-owner and operator of Sneed Grain & Trucking, and was an active member of the Thayer Christian Church.

Lois Cook-Copeland, 76, of Parsons, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at the home of her son, Scott Cook, in Joplin, Mo.
On June 15, 1936 at Mars Hill, Maine, she was born to Elmer and Ida Rowena Hawksley Hallett. She grew up at Mars Hill and attended schools there. She also attended church and lived by the Pentecostal faith.

Successful Rollow Rally Run ends after 10 years

The Rollow Rally Run took its last ride Saturday and ended its final outing with its largest group of participants.
Although taking the final ride Saturday, funds raised from the Rollow Rally Run continue to stream in. All contributions will go to the Cherry Street Youth Center and to help with construction costs associated with a veterans’ memorial at Santa Fe Park.
