Pansy Ward, 101, of Parsons, formerly of Altamont, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Lawrenceburg, Mo., to William W. and Nancy L. Vanderpool Ballinger. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Chanute, where she grew up and attended school.

Jeffrey Dean Scobee, 51, of Chanute, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at his home.
Jeff was born in Garnett on May 3, 1961, the son of Roland and Paula Koehler Scobee. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1979. Jeff graduated from Drury College where he received a degree as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Update: Two sought for questioning
Chanute police have identified two persons of interest and wanted for questioning in the fire and death investigation at 221 N. Lafayette.
Information is sought for the whereabouts of Brian Shields, 26, and Michelle Voorhees, 21.
Authorities warn they could be dangerous and not to approach them, but rather call police, 431-5768.

Update: Body identified
Investigators have now identified the person that was found at the scene of the fire at 221 N. Lafayette as Cristy K. Wiles of Chanute. At this time, the investigation is focused on Aggravated Arson and First Degree Murder.

Max V. Wilson, 84, a longtime resident of Fredonia, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 in Wichita. He was born March 5, 1928 in Neodesha, the son of John Robert and Dolly Bradley Wilson. Chanute police seek information on missing person
Chanute police this morning issued a release asking for assistance in locating a missing person. Investigators are continuing to pursue leads connected to the body found Wednesday at the fire scene at 221 N. Lafayette.
Attempts are being made to locate Cristy K. Thomas Wiles, 36.

She was born on May 24, 1918 in Bronson, the daughter of Anthony Wayne and Jessie Rose Thompson. Sylvia attended Welda High School before she married Wayne William Wools on August 16, 1934 in Garnett.

Gwen Raines, age 91, born June 25, 1921 in Chanute, died Jan. 28, 2013 in Castle Rock, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Raines, and daughter, Kathleen Sue Raines. She is survived by her daugher, Lois Price, Elizabeth Colo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
