Jean Vaughn, a licensed minister with Chanute’s First Christian Church, has published her third work and will be honored in a reception celebration and book signing on Sunday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to noon at the church’s fellowship hall at 102 N. Grant.

Driver gets year in jail for vehicular homicide
Connie McCormick, 47, will spend the next year in an Anderson County jail cell for vehicular homicide for driving the car that crashed near Colony and killed her 13-year-old niece 22 months ago, The Iola Register reported.
McCormick was driving home from a Kansas City-area methadone clinic May 27, 2010, with Royster Middle School student Mary Jane Robertson when she lost control of her 1999 Ford Expedition.

ERIE — The city of Erie and CUSD 101 may team together to apply for a Kansas Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School grant.

KU basketball fans come in all ages. There’s nothing to say a great-grandmother can’t be an expert about the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
