Robert Eugene “Bob” Sproul, 77, formerly of Gas, died Friday, October 9, 2009, at his home in Englewood, Colo.

He was born Sept. 27, 1932, in Iola to Thomas and Helen Sproul, Gas. He grew up in Gas and attended school in Gas and Iola.

He married Josephine Muecke, Chanute, in May 1951. They celebrated their 58th anniversary this year. She survives.

He worked as a diesel mechanic, was a member of the Masons, the Consistory and a 32nd° Mason in the Shrine. He enjoyed street rodding and crafting.

Other survivors include the couple’s children, Curtis, Doug, Gloria and Donna, all of Denver, Colo., and Dale, Gilbert, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jessica, Dustin and Brandon, all of Denver, Colo. ; and a great-grandson, Travis, Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a sister Janet and son, Robert Jr.

Arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. The family will greet friends and family at 9 a.m. Friday in the Johnson Chapel. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at 11 a.m. following the viewing.
